Laneige Power Essential Skin Refiner (Moisture) Review

Hi everyone! It's been quite a while since our last review and we'd like to apologize for our inactivity; we've been extremely busy the past few months but we're trying to find time to write reviews. We've got a lot of new stuff to rave (and rant!) about, but first up is something from Laneige. We've previously reviewed the Water Sleeping Pack EX from the popular Korean skincare brand and will also review the entire Water Bank line in the near future, so watch out for that! But anyway, to start, here's my review of the Laneige Power Essential Skin Refiner (Moisture - for dry to normal skin types). This product is meant to be a toner, to be used after cleansing and before moisturizing. I took these photos when I just bought it, but I've been using this for about 5 months, and am halfway through with it. Without further ado, let's start!

I originally wanted to get the wildly popular Water Bank Essence (review here!) , but I couldn't justify buying another essence as I was already using two (Sana Namerakahonpo Essence and Innisfree Green Tea Serum), so I picked up this toner as I already ran out. Ugh. I blame Song Hye Kyo for my obsession with owning products from Laneige. Why must you be so perfect?! ლಠ益ಠლ

Packaging

The toner comes in this very sturdy, high quality plastic case, with a gorgeous reflective screw-on/off cap. The packaging is really pretty, but it's pretty tiring to twist the cap on and off everytime I have to use it. I wish it came with a pump like the Water Bank Essence! The product is really easy to dispense though, which makes up for the twist cap.

Product

The liquid is almost opaque, with a runny, watery consistency as most toners do. The scent is veryyyy nice, as per usual Laneige standards, which makes it a dream to apply. It has an extremely subtle cooling sensation, which feels so refreshing especially after cleansing. I use this toner as Step 2 in my regimen, after using another Toner (Skinceuticals LHA Toner - review soon!) which takes care of blemishes. The Skinceuticals Toner is drying, but this Laneige product really works wonders in hydrating! I love how it absorbs so well onto the skin. I find that it's better if I pat it on than swipe with a cotton pad, but it's really up to you. It leaves my skin refreshed, hydrated (not oily at all!) and plump. When I'm reaaallyy lazy, I just put this product on and I don't feel as guilty for not going through the whole nine yards of my skincare regimen.

The product reminds me a lot of Skin Origins' Make A Difference Toner, which my mom uses. It hydrates 90% as well, and practically half the price :D

Value

This was purchased in HK for around 140 HKD (around Php 740). For 200ml, I find that it's really worth it! I don't mind spending a bit more for toner even when there are great Japanese/Korean ones for  less, because the toning step is my favorite part! Anyway, they sell it more expensive in Laneige counters, but if you just do some looking around on Sasa or Bonjour, you'll find a better deal. :D

Conclusion

Laneige Power Essential Refiner Moisture version for dry to normal skin types is definitely one of my skincare favorites. It's hydrating, refreshing, and lovely to apply. It comes from a reputable brand, has good packaging, and really worth the price tag. I suggest you go out and try it yourself. :D Will I repurchase? Definitely!
