Holy Grail: Laneige Water Sleeping Pack EX Review

Today, I will be reviewing the Laneige Water Treatment Sleeping Pack EX. Laneige is a Korean skincare and makeup brand, endorsed by the beautiful Song Hye Kyo. If you're familiar with how Koreans prefer to do their makeup, you'll notice that they love the dewy, "boing-boingk" (meaning bouncy) look. When I first saw the commercial for this product, all I thought was, "I HAVE to have it." Check the video out for yourself :D

... See what I mean? Who wouldn't want to wake up with super moisturized, dewy skin? So this product is a sleeping mask (obviously haha!) that you put as the last step of skincare. Laneige says to use it once or twice a week, but the product is so friendly that the only thing you'll get from using it every night is hydrated skin. Anyway, on to the review!

Laneige says that....

  • Light gel-type mask that gives intensive hydration, vitality and brightness while restoring skin with deep relaxation through pleasant aroma.
  • Deeply hydrates fatigue and dry skin while Ceramide formula strengthens the skin barrier.
  • Antioxidant effect of Hunza Apricot Extracts brings crystal clear and even skin tone by removing harmful oxygen and by purifying skin.
  • Chestnuts Seed Extract promotes turnovers of horny layers to remove dead cells for vigorous water supply and sleek skin texture.
  • An aromatic essence compound exclusively developed by the Sleepscent™ helps to relax your mind and body to promote good sleep. A good sleep with sufficient relaxation eventually strengthens skin revitalization. Essential oils from Orange Flower, Rose, Ylang Ylang, Sandalwood etc. are contained in the Sleepscent™.
  •  Himalaya Snow Water helps to keep your skin look more crystal clear and vitalized.

Light blue gel like texture

 Packaging:

Lovely packaging. It comes in an expensive looking jar that holds 80ml of product. It's plastic but looks like glass! It also comes with a spatula to keep things hygienic. If you use it once or twice a week, it 'll surely last you a long time, maybe a little over half a year? I usually apply the size of a small coin, and it's more than enough to cover my entire face. A little goes a long way! :) Rating: 5/5

Pea-sized amount (I usually put more but mine's running out so I didn't want to waste it haha!)

The Product:

It's a lightweight gel consistency, but don't be fooled! Because this product hydrates heavily. To be honest, at first, I didn't really see a difference but I noticed how whenever I used it, my skin in the morning had something like a seal of moisture, very much like the commercial. My skin is unbelievably soft when I wake up whenever I use this so I have nothing but praises for this sleeping pack. I've tried sleeping with sheet masks on, and none of them have given me the moisture and dewy-ness that Laneige Water Treatment Sleeping Pack has. It also has the most soothing, calming lavender / floral scent. It's extremely pleasant and an absolute dream to apply! Even my mom, who dislikes fragrances in her skincare, likes the scent.  Rating: 5/5

Product when being spread

Value:

I bought this at 148 HKD (around 820 pesos) in Sasa Hong Kong. I admit, I deliberated for a while with this product because it's yet another step in my skincare routine - did I really need it? Plus, there are TONS of lightweight, gel-type moisturizers out there for half the price. But really, this jar has lasted me an entire year (because I slacked off a few months with my skincare, darn laziness!). It's really worth it! I would definitely repurchase this. Rating: 4/5

Who would like it?

- People with dry skin, and troublesome skin
-  People with oily skin (it's gel so it's not heavy or greasy at all)
- People who are lazy to put on many steps of skincare (just put this after cleansing and toning!)
- People who want a product that truly hydrates

Who wouldn't like it?

- People on a budget

Like I said, I have nothing but praises for this product, as you can see. It may be a little pricier than others but it's an investment that won't break the bank, if you use it 3 times a week. :) Laneige actually just released the updated, "improved" version of this in January of this year called The Firming Sleeping Pack. You might wanna try it too :D

Thank you for reading our very first review!  :D

P.S. A adores this product too!

Hi Ella! So sorry your comment disappeared, we switched to DISQUS after you commented and your comment is no longer visible, for some reason. Anyway, thank you for your kind words! We haven't tried any of the other Laneige sleeping packs but our mom (who happens to ADORE the Water Sleeping Pack of Laneige as well) now swears by Laneige's new product, the Firming Sleeping Pack. She says not only is it extra hydrating, but it also firms the skin (as the name implies). :)
